... rainy and bleh outside right now. went outside earlier when the weather was still decent, fortunately... might take a stroll later just to get some air, it's getting a smidge stuffy in here.
not in the mood to really do anything, probably just going to hit the magazine store and see what's there.
... my annual evaluation at work is tomorrow morning. the part that always amuses me is where i have to write down or check off whether i met objectives in the past year, and what i think i should improve on to further my career development... considering my "career development" path doesn't include my actual job, my main focus to advance my career is to get a better job, hopefully in this company, one that i actually would enjoy.
then again, you can't exactly put that down on your evaluation sheet, can ya? ;)
that, and i'd like to see what the company's plans for my career development are... so far, i sure as hell don't have a clue what they have planned for me.
but in the meantime, i guess i'll just continue "seeking clarity about customer requirements and expectations", "maintaining or enhancing the self-esteem of others" (i snort heavily at that one, since my job does nothing to enhance mine...), "agree and commit on development activities", and of course "synthesize and simplify pertinent information for management to better understand its essence prior to making decisions" (in other words, dumb it down for your boss's boss!).
(yes, these are actual items on my evaluation.)
on the one hand, i'm glad i work for a company that actually pretends to give a rat's ass about its employees' career development. on the other, until myself and some of my cow-orkers (tm Dilbert) actually are hired for fulfilling jobs that everyone knows we're more than qualified for, it's all for shit.
