long-awaited update
Oct. 16th, 2002 11:05 am... yup, an update of more than a few words. go me.
... got DSL and the router hooked up last night, so Rox and I are finally back in the land of high-speed internet. woooo. :)
in a similar vein, we've concluded that we're both rather geeky. must explain the love thing, I guess.
... my paperwork to join the ranks of tax-paying Americans (or, since I'm Canadian, 'merican, Eh?) has hit a small snag... my INS paperwork is chugging right along, but they're dragging their asses giving me a social security number since I'm newly immigrated.
and without an SSN, I can't work... they say it could be 4-6 weeks but I'm basically going to call them a few times a week to speed things along if I have to. since, of course, my getting a job means I pay taxes, which means I pay their salaries!
I mean seriously... 4-6 weeks to check records which were entered into a shared system at an office two blocks away? :p
... in other news, we have a floor. in most of our rooms, anyway... it's still obscured by boxes in a few places. ;) and tomorrow my new computer desk arrives... my old one got eaten by my elevator door during the move. we're slowly getting this whole new home thing set up.
... things I'm still getting used to: mail on Saturday. banks that are open convenient hours. green money. HBO and lots of it. living in a small town.
... I'll update more often now, promise.
