three more weeks of this???
Dec. 19th, 2001 06:47 pm... a mini-rant before my rant... forgot to tape Holly Cole appearing on Canada AM this morning, dammit. and i'm still pissed that her tour isn't hitting Montreal this year... it's not as if i have the time or resources to go see her in Kingston or Ottawa right now. :p
... and now, the main event.
... ok, first a disclaimer of sorts... i apologize for being negative somewhat frequently in my LJ. but hey... when good shit happens, i post it too. it just so happens that i have more to rant about than rave about lately. when the balance starts shifting to the good side, so will my LJ.
... now then. whose freaking idea was it for so many people to be taking vacations at the same freaking time where i work??
i just found out today that another person, who basically would've been my backup if... uh, when i have issues, is off for the next two weeks. so if i need help, i am, to quote from "Snatch", proper fucked.
today was only the first day where i'm filling in for the co-worker on vacation, and i'm already fed up. the really important stuff is going to be covered, since she drilled it into my head... but everything else is going to be touch'n'go, since thanks to us being shorthanded due to vacations and slow hirings, i don't have any backup, or half of the time, support.
if i'm able to do it, great... if not, i completely expect to get reamed bigtime when she gets back from her vacation. i'm doing my best, but there's only so much one person can do.
i don't find it fair at all that a few of us on my team have been put into an untenable situation for weeks on end... us being ridiculously shorthanded because people are on vacation is just pathetic.
i was completely expecting to work crazy-ass long hours today... one of my co-workers, who is covering for a vacationer and for the slot we haven't hired for yet, will be pretty much all this week.
but y'see, when you don't really know what you're doing for a certain task, and rather than noodling around and screwing it up, you decide to ask someone else for help, and when that person left at four pm sharp... you pretty much say the hell with it and take off from work yourself. i'd rather leave at a decent hour than stay there staring at a report that isn't going to make any more sense if i stare at it.
merry fucking christmas and happy fucking new year... i'll probably be at work on at least one of my days off anyway. no, i'm not exaggerating. :p
