strangeanimal... "Degrassi: The Next Generation" premieres tonight... i'm torn on whether i actually want to watch it or not. i probably won't... the more i think about it, i realize the original series' appeal was, for me, more the cast than the writing. well, that and the fact i'm the same age as the original series cast, give or take a few years.
call it a generation gap, but i can't see myself getting into Degrassi:TNG. i hope it does well, but i think Degrassi:TOS (you know you're a Trekkie when...) was lightning in a bottle... the new series won't be the same.
actually wait, there were 3 Degrassi shows, so Degrassi:TOS would've been "Kids of Degrassi Street", which is a little further back than i'm thinking here. so call 'em DegrassiJH and DegrassiH instead.
... I am such a geek! ;)
and they showed the TV-movie last night they made as a post-finale finale to "Degrassi"... man, 10 years dulls the memory of how damn depressing that movie was! it was like they took the teenage problems they didn't have time for during the series, and wrote them all into one script.
... but hey, there's always irony... when I was a teen, I occasionally aspired to be Joey Jeremiah. and now... well, i've got a hell of a lot more hair than Pat Mastroianni does. i can live with that. ;)

hmmm..when is it gonna be on?
somehow I just thing it will definately suck, I mean, the previous actors were just THE best!!! I don't think they can "replace" them just like that.. although the show is probably once again aimed at kids that age, which means they won't know the older ones.. maybe that's the trick...
