strangeanimal... the Friday Five!
1.How often do you get sick? Are there particular times of the year when this happens? If so, when?
I get one nasty cold a year it seems, usually in mid-winter. I constantly have mild sinus congestion and throat irritation, but I've been living with it for years.
2. Do you go to the doctor when you're sick? Why or why not?
If I'm reallllllllly sick, yes. Which isn't often... I know my system fairly well, and I know I recover quickly, so if I'm sick for more than a couple of days, then I'll get checked out.
3. What comfort things and/or foods do you seek out when you're sick? Why?
If I'm congested, soup and plenty of lemon tea. If I have a fever, I put on sweaters, thick blankets, and climb into bed... I almost always end up sweating out the fever.
4. Do you take medication (prescription or over-the-counter) when you're sick? Why or why not?
Not usually prescription, I'm rarely that sick. I take cough syrup and decongestants otherwise, usualy twice a day.
5. How long do you stay typically stay sick? Do you stay home or do you go out and/or work? Why or why not?
I only stay home if my being sick would be a huge pain the ass to everyone else, like if I'm really sneezy. ;) Or if I have a realllllly bad headache. if I do stay home, it's usually just for a day.
and just to give you an idea of times I should've stayed home... once, I left work because I saw that what I thought was a minor foot injury was rather swollen. I left, got x-rays, found out I had a bad sprain and a broken toe. and came back two hours later, on crutches, and went right back to work.
and then of course, I went into work last summer having had a root canal on a back tooth that morning. other than chewing on crushed ice and trying to avoid talking on the phone, it was business as usual.
