RIP Stu Hart
Oct. 17th, 2003 06:01 amWrestling patriarch Stu Hart dead at 88
I remember remarking, during the couple of months I lived in Calgary a few years back, just how big the Hart family was (figuratively and literally). Stu and Helen lived in a huge rambling house, that any Calgarian (wrestling fan or not) could find with their eyes closed. They had twelve kids... two legendary wrestlers, all four daughters married wrestlers.
Most of the Hart kids used to substitute teach, so everyone in Calgary knew someone who had been taught by one of them... now there's a sub you wouldn't want to mess with.
Stu was awarded the Order of Canada for running a wrestling organization, for crying out loud. Can't beat that. :)
RIP, Stu. Say hi to Owen and Davey Boy for us.

Date: 2003-10-17 04:29 am (UTC)I recall how some of my friends always made fun of the way Stu talked, but after hearing him elsewhere than just on WWE programs, I knew it was an act. Regardless, he was an important and sgnificant piece of Canadian pop culture.
He will be sorely missed.

Just curious, did you ever see any Stampede shows when you were living out there?
