... watching last night's "West Wing" on TiVo. you know, the show about the President, and all of those American politicians.

a scene which was supposed to be taking place in Dover, New Hampshire... had a Shoppers Drug Mart in the background.

they're a CANADIAN drugstore chain, that according to their website, doesn't have any stores in the US.

West Wing, filming in Canada????

There was that CBS show about the Mountie in Chicago... Goin' South or something. But it was filmed in Toronto and they never worked too hard to hide that fact. I kept watching it thinking it was set in Toronto and kept wondering why they were always talking about Chicago.

More along the lines of... why does Hollywood (TV included) shoot in Canada to resemble the US but never shoots in Canada to resemble Canada?

The sad thing is, the answer is, Canadians are used to seeing American programs. Americans refuse to see Canadian programs.

That's funny - I've been watching the outdoor scenes (and they do seem to have a lot of them), trying to figure out where things were filmed, to see if I recognize bits of Concord, Nashua, or Manchester.

Now I realize why I haven't recognized anything.
