The Michael Jackson grand jury testimony transcripts are oddly addictive. I've been asking myself why I'm reading them, even as I continue to read them.

And no, I never read the Starr Report, though I read a lot of testimony from the Karla Homolka trial while the media ban in Canada was still going on... in journalism school, one of my class assignments was to research as much detail as we could about the story (which technically, we weren't supposed to be able to do!)... even though this was when the Internets didn't have the level of info and searchability they do now, most of our class found the nitty gritty in no time flat.

... so yeah, the Jackson transcripts. 1903 pages worth. can't say I want to read them in THAT much detail... I especially don't want to read the kids' statements because, well, no. finding out on another page that skin-bleaching treatments have basically left Jackson with a striped penis is bad enough, thank you very much.

All hail Michael Jackson, the king of TMI.
On the other hand, if he ever wanted to try acting, he'd make a good Pinocchio.

Yup, media ban... there was a gag order on details in the Karla Homolka case while it was still going on because it involved lots of sexual shenanigans and what-not.

I haven't read them yet, but I probably will. I asked myself why I wanted to watch that Martin Bashir special on the other night. I think it's because I grew up with Michael Jackson. There was a time when he was the coolest thing ever. Everyone loved him, his music trancended all boundaries (my Nana and I used to listen to Thriller together!), and it seemed that he could do no wrong. So to have him end up here is just difficult to wrap my brain around and I just want to know why. Not that there really is a why.

Exactly... if MJ isn't the iconic figure, this isn't as big of a story. Robert Blake didn't get OJ's press coverage...
