Feb. 21st, 2005 02:54 pm... well, they were nice enough to let it snow on everyone's day off, I suppose. though Roxanne and I were supposed to drive up to New Hampshire to pick up some enlargements from our wedding photographer (he's usually booked solid on weekends, so a weekday holiday was our best option)... however, hearing that I-93 in NH had had a few major multi-car pileups this morning put a kibosh on that idea.
so, we're just doing the get-stuff-done-at-home thing. well, I did the nap thing earlier. but I had actually been productive before the nap, so it was earned.
... in other news, "Traditional Values" group targets Shrek's transgender agenda. geeez... you animate Pinocchio in a thong once and people get their panties in a bunch. (Do thongs bunch?)
besides, if they're going to attack a recent Mike Myers film, attack Goldmember. That movie sucked.

Date: 2005-02-22 03:56 pm (UTC)The other day I heard this argument from Bill Maher. He was asking why, since we have seen gay people for thousands of centuries, why on earth we still persecuted them? I mean, to many Christians, Jewish people are going to hell because they aren't Christian. But does that mean Jewish people shouldn't have the same rights as Christians?
My biggest beef with church and state is church is based on belief and I believe state should be based on fact. If the fact is that something like 5% of our population is gay, we should acknowledge that 5% of our population is gay and get over it. The policies of our government won't affect if they get into heaven or not, if there is such a place. You can have god rule up there, but please not down here.
Anyways, there's no resolving it... it's the fundamental difference between many Americans. Many want to be ruled by logic, many want to be ruled by faith.
P.S. Yes I know you were talking about transgendered people, not gay people, but still. Same type of deal.
