strangeanimal... so i went for a haircut today. i usually (like for 10 years) go to the same person my parents go to... a young, really sweet Filipina who we've followed to two different salons and finally her own because she's good, and her prices are good.
but this time around, i decided to give my friend/coworker's wife a shot at it... she does haircuts and color for half of his friends, and definitely does a good job.
long story short... i'm more or less blond now. (!!!) we were originally going to go with red highlights, but she thought that blond would be interesting... i figured what the hell, why not.
between the bleaching and blond highlights, and my hair being a lot shorter and lighter after the cut, my hair looks dirty blond (ok, very dirty blond) on top in the light... in indirect light, it's still pretty dark.
i love it, but wow does it take getting used to... considering my hair was black when i was a kid and lightened itself all the way too dark auburn, this is by far the lightest color my hair's ever been.
they are so going to freak at work. then again, i'm not sure if anything i do surprises them at work anymore. ;)
... and as an unexpected bonus, i might end up moving to their part of town this summer. they've got a really nice upper duplex, good size, good location, way bigger than my apartment, has a backyard and everything, for about what i pay now.
i had been thinking of buying, but given that i don't want to make that kind of commitment until i feel more secure job-wise, i'll definitely take renting a bigger place with a backyard as an alternative.
... and yes, i'm going to clean up tonight, thank you all for reminding me ;) ... off to the dog run first to get the pooch nice and tired out so she won't be underfoot. then, out come the cleaning implements. wooo.
