If you asked for a "double-double," they'd look at you funny. You can't buy Tim Horton's brand coffee at Dunkin' Donuts.

When Angie did this, I laughed my head off when she got a confused look from the clerk. "You can't buy Tim Horton's Coffee at a Double-D's!"

Apparently, the brand names just translate to the amount of cream and sugar, but I can never remember which is first.

"Double-double" is a legitimate Canadian word, no longer exclusive to Tim Horton's drinks, included in the New Canadian Oxford Dictionary of the English Language. It means any hot beverage with two servings of milk and two servings of sugar.

I don't believe it's in the Webster's New Lexicon: U.S. edition, however. :)

How sad is it that these two losers don't just get sacked from some crappy minimum wage job, but also collect a criminal record for being stupid. If it was civilians that they had done this to, it's likely that nothing would have happened (other than being fired) but geez , don't mess with the cops in the donut shop.
