Don Knotts, dead at 81. And if he had stopped after just playing Barney Fife on "The Andy Griffith Show", he'd still have been remembered as one of the funniest actors ever. Good thing he didn't stop, though.
Is it evil of me that I'm really not all that upset by his passing? I was never a big fan, and it always bugged me that there's a street named after him here in Morgantown just 'cause he was a local boy.
Living to the ripe old age of eighty-one's pretty damned impressive, though. I should be so lucky . . . go, old dude! ;-)
what's funny is most hometowns on my LJ list (other than places I've lived, natch) don't stick in my head... but when I saw he was from Morgantown, you immediately popped in there. weird.
and I always have a soft spot for the comedians and the comic actors... making people laugh, there are worse things to do for a buck. :)
