testosteroni, the real san francisco treat

... i'm going to run a 10K this summer... june 15 to be precise. every year at work, we hold a 5k walk/10k run as a fundraiser, basically our company's big community hurrah for the year. i volunteered the past two years, but this year a bunch of us from our dept. are going to actually run the darn thing.
they're doing training sessions at work twice a week... we have a few former highly-ranked distance runners in our company, so they'll be whipping us pudgy cube-dwellers into lean. mean. running. machines!!
this should be interesting. i can walk 10 klicks quickly with my eyes closed... i've always been a long, fast walker. but running?
if nothing else, training for the next 3 months should knock a few pounds off the scale... and hey, maybe it'll push me to just shape up in general. 'cuz dammit, i'm gonna finish that 10k!! :)
... in other testosteroney news, i'm skipping out on a "manly weekend" day tomorrow... one of my cow-orkers is having a bunch of us up to his country place to play hockey, BBQ steaks, drink beer, etc.
i decided to pass... i've drank with most of these guys before and i'd rather not be out in the semi-wilderness, while they're holding hockey sticks, and drunk. 'sides, they're all way more jock than i am, i'm in no hurry to possibly injure myself badly playing pond hockey.
so instead i think i'll buy me some new runnin' shoes tomorrow. to actually run in. go me. :)
