oh look, a subject line
Sep. 18th, 2001 09:43 pmMy knees hurt again... the jogging at lunch today was more of a walk, but my knees are still angry at me for it. Some days I feel like running (or at least jogging), other days I have absolutely no intention of keeping up with the fast people, and much prefer having a walk'n'talk with the slower people.
Does that mean the better a conversationalist, the worse a runner? I'll have to work on that theory...
I'm not fond of my knees in general. I had back surgery back in '89, and as a result my back strength/flexibility/mobility is slightly limited. To compensate, I've been following every doctor's advice since lifting was invented, "lift with your knees"!!
The problem is, I think my legs have been overcompensating for my back... I have fairly decent leg muscles from doing a lot of walking, biking, lifting with my knees... but my knees are shot!!
There's nothing specifically wrong with them... I almost wish there was, so I could just get a ligament repaired or something. Basically, it's wear and tear on the whole knee area. It's nothing chronic, I can walk, run, jump, whatever without pain, but it takes them longer to bounce back than the rest of me.
Ah well, at least they're good-looking knees. Not knobby or anything. ;)
And no, this is not the first in a series of LJ posts on my body parts... "I Am Joe's Colon", "I Am Jack's Inflated Sense of Rejection", etc.
