... i have returned.
rdcf and i just spent the weekend in NYC... one of her childhood friends got hitched, so we went down there for the wedding, which was at a church in Chelsea. realllllly nice part of NYC... i'd never really spent much time there before, but i definitely like the look and the vibe.
the wedding and the rehearsal dinner were completely something else... Rox's friend is one of those completely creative types, and he and his wife are also part of a really active church group, so the rehearsal dinner had their friends doing skits and songs, lots of which he had written, it was a lot of fun.
the wedding itself was more of the same... some of it was a little much, mind you. Rox and i were both pretty much of the same mind, that it's OK to make your wedding fresh and fun, but don't overdo it!!
ferinstance, they played a taped "interview" where her younger cousins (i think) basically played the "newlywed game"... asking them questions separately like their fave desserts, etc. it was cute, but not something i'd include in a ceremony.
i wanted to steal one idea though... but she won't let me use "Thus Spake Zarausthra" (aka the theme from 2001)... party pooper! ;)
... we also went to see Death To Smoochy while we were in NYC... completely hilarious, completely twisted. the easily offended might have problems with this one, but otherwise it's just a great, odd movie.
it also gave me a new quote that every Irishman should live by...
... and i have to say it was pretty cool to be at a wedding with Rox... just reminds me how crazy about her i am, and how much i want to be with her. and how happy i want to make her.
and how much i miss her. less than 13 days.
