strangeanimal... huh, the Pepsi i had about an hour ago seems to have worn off. where's that second wind when you need it?
... almost finished A Prayer For Owen Meany... the last chapter's a little weird though, seems to me that Irving tries to tie up too many loose ends too quickly.
then again, i haven't finished the last chapter yet, so maybe it all ties together. definitely liked the book though. :)
... my next read'll be Those Are Real Bullets: Bloody Sunday, Derry, 1972, which'll either be read on my way to Rox's, or while she's at work. or on the way from. i also have course material to look through for a work course i'm taking, so i'll try to juggle the book and the class stuff somehow.
"Those Are Real Bullets" definitely sounds like a helluva read... the authors interviewed hundreds of eyewitnesses to the Bloody Sunday uprisings in Northern Ireland, and the book is basically a combined first-person account of the events. i've read up plenty on the Troubles, but i've never read anything as close to the action as this book is.
all i know is when i pick this book up, i'm going to need a good uninterrupted stretch of time... i know that i'll want to read it all in one sitting. fortunately i'm a fast reader!!
... more training for the 10K tomorrow... this time, it includes a rather sizable set of wooden stairs up to the lookout at Mount Royal. yeeeek.
i can definitely feel myself adapting to this whole running thing... my cardio has improved leaps and bounds in the past month, and my recovery time (from full exertion to "resting" heartbeat) is pretty quick, most of the time i'm ready to go quicker than i'd expected.
i haven't really lost any weight, but i do think i've shifted a few pounds from my gut to my legs... my calf muscles are actually looking pretty sizable!
... dinner with the parentals tomorrow. menu unknown. currently snacking on Apple-Cinnamon Cheerios. off to do other stuff.
