WE'RE GETTING MARRIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This wasn't one of those "surprise" proposals... she knew it was coming at some point this weekend. (The original plan was for me to propose in June right after finishing the 10k race, but then I figured that me being sweaty and ready to collapse might not be conducive to romance.)

Sooooooooo, I decided on Mount Royal instead, Mount Royal being the dormant volcano that Montreal is built around. (It's true. It's true.) Mount Royal being the place we were always supposed to go because it's nature-y and beautiful, but never quite did get to. Until last night. :)

Firstly, I popped "Music To Get Engaged By" into Rox's CD player for the drive, tunes which she approved of thoroughly. Then, I played navigator as she drove to the lookout where good stuff was about to happen.

And as luck/timing would have it, it was sunset. And a nice one at that. So I got down on one knee, traditionalists that we are ;). And I popped the question, after a minute or two of, well, semi-rehearsed nervous babbling. And she said that she would. :)

We then proceeded to toast our engagement with some fine bubbly... Canada Dry. The Champagne of Ginger Ales. Only the best for my baby!!

And then we saw an older couple in the car parked near us applauding. They got out and congratulated us and took a few pictures for us... turns out they were visiting from California, I'm sure their guide books didn't warn them about random marriage proposals. They gave us their business card and insisted on an invite to the wedding! :)

After that, we went back to the scene of our first date, a wood-burning-pizza place downtown. Rox proceeded to gush to the maitre d' that we had just gotten engaged, and this had been where our first date was!! (this ended up getting us a free drink... must exploit this further!)

And now, we're basking in our engagedness and telling everyone. Family, friends, but Rox is restraining herself from accosting random strangers.
