monopolizing people's friends pages
May. 17th, 2002 07:11 pm... yeah, so i'm updating a lot today. sue me. ;)
... a semi-rhetorical question... why do many LJers allow anonymous comments on their posts? i know that we have LJ readers who don't have their own journals (and thus have to post anonymously) that are good people, but the majority of anonymous comments i see around are people trolling and starting flamewars, too chickenshit to post under a name... which is ridiculous, considering you can reveal as much or as little as you choose in your LJ profile and your posts, why not just post under a made-up profile?
it just seems counter-productive to allow anonymous posting. that's my 2 cents Canadian... about what, a penny U$? ;)
... running update: 29 days until the big race. training runs are focusing more on pacing than stamina now, since we've all pretty much proved to ourselves that we can finish. thursday's practice was 100-meter runs alternating with 300-meter jogs, pretty much non-stop for 4 or 5k. surprisingly tiring.
the good thing about this is that we all have a pretty fair idea of what our finishing time is going to be, barring any injuries or wacky weather. i figure i should finish in about an hour, 1:05.
which, for a first-timer who was in less-than-stunning physical condition a few months ago, ain't too shabby. :)
although my condition still needs some work... our trainer lined us up some runner-type tank tops at a discount (y'know, the ones with the mesh that keeps you cool while you sweat, or something to that effect). i passed on them... there are things that nobody in this world needs to see, and one is me in a tank top.
... Celebrity Boxing 2 next week... even though it's complete trash TV, it's hilarious trash TV. i'll turn off my mind for 90 minutes and just laugh my ass off.
Screech vs. Horshack should be worth the price of admission alone... especially if Ron Palillo does the Horshack laugh at any point during the fight.

Date: 2002-05-17 08:54 pm (UTC)I have a story from a friend who went to school with her. A teacher commented on her unusual name.
She said it was the name of her grandfather's favorite fictional character... my friend said it was a good thing that character wasn't Goldorak (a Japanese giant robot cartoon character who was very popular here in Quebec)!
He blew his chance to date her to the prom, but for the laughter the comment garnered, it was worth it. :=)

Date: 2002-05-19 06:39 am (UTC)Personally, I did this because I had a few friends who weren't on LJ, and I would occasionally give them a link to something in my journal. I wanted them to have a chance to respond. I personally haven't had any problems with this, but if I did, I'd probably change my prefs.

You rawk! If I don't see it, make sure you tell me how it goes. My money's on Screech.
