... why has Adam Sandler played the exact same character in every single one of his movies except The Wedding Singer??

... and what exactly is the least bit amusing about Andy Dick?? seriously. i don't get it. i found him punch-him-if-i-would-run-into-him-on-the-street annoying on Newsradio, and since then, i have found nothing he has done that i've had the misfortune of seeing, to be anything resembling funny.

so if any of you are actual fans and can shed some light on what his appeal is, please do. 'cuz i'm stumped.

These two are mysteries as far as popularity... and having seen the MTV 2002 Mystery Awards today, I also have to add Jack Black to that list of people-seen-as-funny-when-they're-not for me. Plus, the aformentioned Andy Dick was in the opening act. That was the only host routine I liked, but only because it was done like a Meatloaf song.

ah yes, Jack Black is another. not quite Andy Dick-scale, but close.

I have no idea why because I feel the same way about Adam Sandler and Andy Dick, not to mention Jack Black...purile(sp?) humor, perhaps? Or their brand of comedy has nothing to do with brain cells?

?!?!?!?

Easily entertained...

Personally, I loved the show News Radio so I'll tell you what I think...Andy's character filled the quirky, physical-comedy character role that the show required. I don't think he's that funny necessarily but he had his place in that show and he pulled it off without bugging me personally. Mostly, I just loved the show for Stephen Root and Phil Hartman but that's besides the point.

Now Adam Sandler? He has no breadth or depth. He's fairly funny at what he does but he does get old. Fast. I suppose Happy Gilmore was my favorite of that bunch and The Wedding Singer was pretty good and I did enjoy it. Big Daddy left me wanting. And wondering - what the hell? I don't know what he was trying to do there.

Andy Dick - liked his character on Newsradio enough, but outside of that I find him annoying.

Adam Sandler - I like him in that "I guess I was a frat boy in a previous life" type way.

Jack Black - Sometimes he's a little out there, but for the most part I love him.
