better than a kick in the pants
Oct. 5th, 2001 06:19 pm... after yesterday's bombshell, my team at work met with our supervisor to hash stuff out and figure out what exactly happens next. to her credit, my boss doesn't deserve to have the stuff heaped on her that she does. she's intelligent and means well, and cares about her people... of course, when hard decisions have to be made, it's the caring bosses that get shit on for trying to do right by everyone.
the bottom line is, this is the whole "contraction before expansion" principle. if, if, if, if many ideas and plans from management come to fruition, we'll turn the corner nicely over the next year or so. if not, the shit won't really hit the fan for about a year or so, since that's how long they're figuring all this will take to shake out.
but meanwhile, the next year or so's going to be fun... people tend to look for better, more stable jobs when stuff like this happens. which means mo' fun for those of us left over.
i'm hopeful that things'll work out, but I'm not going to bet the farm on this...
